Friday Night Racing Is BACK!

Our first Friday night meeting of 2019 is upon us and we welcome the Ministox, Superstox, Stock Rods and 2.0 Hot Rods at Lochgelly Raceway in what should be a great way to start of your weekend!

The Ministox have been in sensational form in the early part of the season with some excellent bumper to bumper action from the youngsters. There has been around 20 cars in attendance at each of our meetings in 2019 and this week looks no different with over 20 cars currently booked in to race on Friday night. Friday night will see Aaron Richards join us yet again as he looks to continue his good haul of points at Lochgelly Raceway this season. Ciaran Adams was in good form last time out and will be looking to continue that streak as he looks to get himself back up to red grade at the first time of asking after dropping to blue for April. Mitchell Gold started the season off on fire but struggled last time he was out here at Lochgelly Raceway; Mitchell has had some great battles with his on track competitors this season which is all part of the parcel in the Ministox class. Scott Allardyce has done a fair bit of travelling this year already and was at Skegness last weekend. Scott has started the season well and will be looking to turn his consistency into race victories, starting this weekend! Taylor Borthwick has been in excellent form and currently leads our track championship. Taylor isn’t scared to mix it up neither, and is certainly one to watch both this weekend and throughout the season. Jamie Stewart is another one that has shown good form this year and is currently leading the HRP National Points. Jamie Stewart and Mitchell Gold have had some excellent battles between them already here at Lochgelly and this coming Friday we expect to be much the same. Newcomers this year, Robbie Armit, Jake Wilson and Rian Mitchell have all made a mark in 2019 and have been recognised by most as showing a lot of potential – The Ministox class of 2019 certainly looks to be up there as one of the best already.

The 2.0 Hot Rods have started the season off excellently with a very evenly matched grid of cars which has given us some excellent racing this season – Jim Pitcaithly and Kevin Stewart stole the headlines last time out for a fantastic battle for the lead in the final, as well as providing some excellent entertainment during the heats. A good grid of cars always helps the cause and this season looks to be the best season that the formula has had since it was brought to Scotland a few years ago. Gary Black, Brian Wilson, Ryan Mackie, Trevor Calvin and Colin Wotherspoon all had some fascinating races and have proven difficult to be overtaken; watch out for some more 5/6 car battles developing this Friday night in the 2.0 Hot Rod class as drivers try different approaches and different styles to move up through the places. Englishman Dave Leech is a welcome visitor as he looks to get in some practice ahead of the June Speedweekend!

Siobhan Martin and Chris Lattka have both started the season well in the Stock Rods and will both be with us tonight as they battle there way from the back of the grid to score as many points as they possibly can in the race for the National Points. 2019 doesn’t look to be a 2 horse race however, as the likes of Jamie Bell and Gary Dean have both scored well in the early part of the season and look more than capable of keeping up a challenge. Stewart Paterson is back out tonight and will be hoping to claim his first win of the season after having one taken off of him last time the stock rods were out here at Lochgelly Raceway. Stuart Bannatyne rejoined the ranks recently and got his season off to a flier scoring a couple of race wins – He’ll be starting a bit further back this Friday night though after his upgrading, but will no doubt be in the mix for race wins again given the pace that he demonstrated previously!

The Superstox are the final formula in action. The Superstox class have started the season off fairly slowly in relation to car numbers, but have more than made up for that with on track action. Dean Johnston is finding good pace in his car of late and is certainly looking to be one of the top drivers in 2019. Dean has been progressing as a driver since he came into the formula and now looks capable of mixing it up with the likes of Bryan Forrest and Stuart Gilchrist, and isn’t shy to put his front bumper to good effect neither. Similarly, Mark Dews finally looks to have found the form that we all know he is capable of after scoring his first race win in the last outing for the Superstox – Mark will be hoping for some more silverware this weekend.

Ensure you join us on Friday night and start your weekend off with a bang!!!
