Bangers Are Back In Action
14th of March 2019

The Bangers Are Back In Town
Saturday 16th March will see another great 5 formula line up, with the Ministox back in action after there great show at the season opener, whilst the Superstox and 2.0 Hot Rods return for there 2nd meetings of the season as well. The ProStocks make their season debut here at Lochgelly Raceway, and the 2l National Bangers compete for the first round in the 2019 HRP Series.

The Ministox see Aaron Richards join us from south of the border for the 2nd time this season already, Aaron took the first final of the season last time out and will be looking for a similar set of results this weekend. Rian Mitchell may make his debut in the formula, taking over the 172 from brother Michael if the car is ready in time. A host of former Ninja Kart drivers are expected to be on track, including Robbie Armit and Jake Wilson, with both trying to find there feet in the formula after stepping up. Northern based driver Ross Lawrence makes the trip south to join us again. Taylor Borthwick has made a good start to the season and will be looking to secure her first win at Lochgelly in 2019 this weekend after narrowly missing out last time out.

The National Bangers are here for the first round of the HRP Series, which will see the winner at the end of the series deemed the HRP National Points Champion, thus gaining a wildcard entry into the World Final. Bookings have been slow in forthcoming but with a couple of travelling drivers due with us, we aren’t far away from where we’d like to be in terms of rebuilding the banger scene. It is hoped that numbers will increase throughout the season and it gives us a platform to build bangers up to where they once were in Scotland. The drivers will as always, go out to entertain and put on a show for the crowd.
The ProStocks are with us for the first time this year and will see a few new names on track, with David Ross back in action and David Izzat out for his first meeting. Paul Barron leads the line up with Ian Christie and Steven Gold out on track looking to challenge Barron for the honours this year.
The Superstox will be hoping for a drier night so that they can really find there form and understand any adjustments needing made to there cars this season to maximise speed. Adam Low was quick from yellow grade in the wet and will no doubt be looking to show that sort of form in the dry conditions too. Mark Brady will be looking to kick start his season after a disappointing outing on the 2nd March. Bryan Forrest and Chris Miller will be hoping to show the speed to give them the opportunity to win some silverware this season.

The 2.0 Hot Rods are back with us for the 2nd week in succession; Kevin Stewart will be looking to continue where he left off with a final win last time out. Ryan Mackie will hope to have the issues sorted that prevented him from competing full distance in the final after securing two heat wins previously. Former stock rodders, Jim Pitcaithly, Trevor Calvin will be hoping to secure another good haul of points, whilst they may be joined by Brian Wilson on track. Gerry Hendry was arguably the top driver of the 2018 season, and will be looking to win some titles in 2019.
